Niykee is still writing songs despite having been caught up in the recent turmoil. She was hand-picked for the YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and Snoop was on stage with her. She is a constant magnet to producers just getting started. A lot of tracks she gets are a source of songs. In just 5 seconds, I can tell the quality of a song or not. Then I get an idea of the song and write it right away. While I'm at my front porch, playing guitar, lyrics will flow and are usually written in fewer than thirty minutes. While she develops her skills as a lyricist, Niykee explains that her pain from the past serves as an endless source of ideas. My experience of pain as a child in my youth and the loss of my sister is evident in my lyrics, even though they're not literal. The loss of my sister as well as my childhood shapes the songs that I compose. It's important to me to attach a profound purpose to what I perform.
