Initiated by the shadows she observed in the earth and shadows on the ground, the artist spent months experimenting with a method that allows objects to be represented with two dimensions onto canvas. More like the subject has been transformed into the artist's own image with the canvas taking its interpretation from the artist. This is especially effective when working with living things or objects that can be perishable like people or fruits. Alexa's style of painting is one of ephemeral, and only photographs of her work survive. Photography and painting are tightly connected to form a flat two-dimensional surface that is trompe-l'oeil. In certain places, the third dimensions can be observed, such as around the eye or on the hair. Meade has integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3D space that surrounds them. Their interaction and this created world is conceivable. The distinctions between performance photography, and installation is thus broken.
