In 2015 at 19 she published her first debut single, Here. This single received a lot of praise and was well-received both by critics and listeners. The Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked it as 19. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song as one of 2015's Top Songs. The same year, she also released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five tracks that were the first to reach Billboard's chart. According to an interview Cara did with Rap Up, this track had lots of significance for a lot people listening who were drawn to her story about finding acceptance and appreciation for your self. Cara is known for incorporating messages about mental health compassion and self-love in her music. Every song Cara sings comes directly from her battle with mental illness, insomnia as well as other problems. According to a Reuters interview, she described the album as being half turbulent and half well-crafted. She says she grew through therapy, and encourages anyone else to seek out assistance when needed. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. Her birth date was July 11, 1996, to parents with Italian origins. In 2010, her parents purchased her a brand new guitar which she utilized to further develop her passion for music. At the age of 13, she started covering songs she liked on YouTube to demonstrate to the public that she had talent and had the courage to pursue a career as musician. One of the songs Sweater Weather ended up getting her attention by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create songs.
